Content
In this experiment, you will be introduced to the basic properties of superconducting tunnel junctions that we develop and fabricate in our labs to use them as extremely sensitive (quantum) detectors in our submillimeter wave receivers for astronomy. In addition to measuring the current-voltage characteristics at 4.2 Kelvin, as a highlight you will measure the energy of photons at 350 GHz. Quantum physics with an oscilloscope!
